Intrinsic Motivation and Learner Autonomy

It is hard not to talk about intrinsic motivation when it comes to explaining motivation and learner autonomy in class. Years of ‘carrot and stick’ are over. It is all about being autonomous and self-motivated. However, what causes someone to be intrinsically motivated? What makes intrinsic motivation as one of the greatest assets if compared to ordinary extrinsic motivation? What benefits can come from being autonomous?

Procrastination and why we procrastinate

I need to make a confession at the outset here. I am a last minute worker. I always do my work last minute that somehow I have almost given up to the notion of ‘it’s never too late to change’. What makes one so reluctant to change for the better if you know the dire consequence of choosing to stay obstinate in your old habit? Will it give more harm if you change? What will you lose if you choose to give up what is known as your ‘procrastination’ side?

Simple?

A Brief Introduction (as if)

Greetings, everyone! I’m an alien from the outer space trying to dominate all human beings. Nah! This is so typical. So this turns out to be my ... let me count 1,2,3...5th blog. I’m not gonna be really chatty like my previous journals or blogs. Heed the usage of plural and the additional “s”.

I’m feeling really awkward because I have to be extra careful with my language (no vulgar slurs) and being formal is so not me. Can we skip the formalities? Right, for the time being my name is Nabilah Mhd Fauzi. I’m a muslim Malaysian and gonna embark on a life long journey from a very secluded, deluded, fortified, monotonous place (that’s my town) to the UK. It’ll be a very momentous moment of my entire life. Therefore, I need to create a blog in order to cherish my three years in a foreign land – how I emulate to the foreign surroundings, my feelings (not the whole bits) and some occasion of meeting and going to famous places.

Surely, this blog will only be accumulated with pictures and some rants or tips (hopefully I could be more productive and could come out with any) and will be future guidance and reference to my juniors or anyone who’s interested to go to the UK for vacation or any other purposes (conjugality will be very interesting).

Briefly, I’m a student and will pursue my studies along with my buddies; the pencil box and my iPod, at the University of Warwick for my degree in language teaching. It’s gonna be a tough life. I’m an utter oddball and we’ll have fun together. As a matter of fact...bloody (oopppsss) let’s stick to the nicer part of me, alright? Cheerio!
